Sohail is a smart 12-year-old boy studying in Standard III at a Government school in Jaipur. He is hearing impaired and inarticulate. He has been coming to school for about three years now. He was not sent to school earlier since he would help out with small chores at home. But now since he's growing up, so are his nutrition requirements. Sohail should be fed well to ensure good physical growth. His parents are very poor. Hence all other children in his family don't go to school. They go out and work. Sohail is sent to school because he is not capable of working due to his disabilities. He is also sent to school because he gets to eat lunch.

His teachers say that he is growing up to be much smarter than before. "He is a bright kid who grasps things just by looking at them. Unlike other kids who are not specially abled, Sohail does not need repitition while studying. You show him something and he'll remember it forever. This is because he has a great photographic memory. He is also very good at mathematics. He is one of the top scorers in this subject," says one of his teachers.

Sohail does not have a particular ambition but he loves to study and learn new things. His teachers think despite all the challenges in Sohail's life, he will definitely achieve success in whichever field he chooses to pursue. Akshaya Patra provides to 1.3 million such kids most of whom do not get even a single meal at home.
